I always say that I was born in the wrong decade. I am a hippie at heart, and because of this, we try to reduce our carbon footprint and detoxify our lives daily. One of the ways we go about doing this is by making our own products and using locally made products from recycled materials. When buying products for our children like plates, cups, and servingware, I knew that even though Target has the cutest holiday themed items, I wanted to get products that are “greener” and serve a higher purpose.
We are faithful Replay Recycled buyers for many reasons. We love that they manufacture, assemble, package and test in the USA. They focus on reducing their carbon footprint as a company while helping the world do the same. Their products are made from recycled HDPE (basically milk jugs) which is BPA, Phthalate and PVC free. Recycling a 1-gallon plastic milk jug will save enough energy to keep a 100-watt bulb burning for 11 hours!
This month they released their new “Under the Sea” color theme, and I had to scoop it up for Nolan and Harper. Nolan is currently obsessed with all sea food and loves eating it in his “ocean blue” plate with his matching fork and spoon. Harper has a pink set with matching no-spill cup and travel snack container. I get them a few new pieces month to month to add colors to their collection.
Harper recently realized that she doesn’t have to throw her plate and attempts to eat with her fork. Some of the kids’ favorite foods right now are scrambled eggs, almond butter and jelly sandwiches, fruit salads and Pirates Booty mac and cheese. Making fun scenes with food is something I try to do with Nolan throughout the week. We talk about the colors and shapes and make up stories about what I made for him. Having colorful plates help inspire me to be more creative and add a level of play to a healthy meal.
