It’s HUMP day y’all! I can see the weekend peeping at me from around the corner and I couldn’t be more excited! This week has been a rough one and it feels good to know there is an end in site. Scarlet Reese has entered the phase where if she can’t see me, she cries. At the top of her lungs. Super loud. So I have about two minutes to scramble around and get what I need done before she flips out. There is not enough coffee in the world to help me through this… but thank goodness for an amazing Husband and Daddy. He has taken all the venting I’ve been sending his way and working magic once he gets home from work. Seriously, I am so thankful.
Anyway, a few weeks ago we had a family photo shoot with Kristina Mosley, a local photographer from Myrtle Beach that we absolutely adore! She has photographed us in our home for lifestyle shoots, a summer shoot at a castle, a fall mini session and my fav milk bath maternity session this past summer! I adore working with her and so connects so effortlessly with our family. I cannot sing her praises enough. She is a must to book a session with because her shots come out absolutely stunning! I decided to pair some of our favorite pictures from the shoot with a little Q and A since that was such a big hit last time I did one. I hope y’all enjoy both the pictures and learning a little more about me!
Q: did you go to college, if so, what for?
A: yes I went to college! I attended Francis Marion University which I loved! I met such a diverse group of people from all around the world. People from Ireland, South Africa, India, most of whom I am still friends with today! I went to school with teaching in mind then I changed my major to marketing. I really, really loved both and spent a good seven years trying to figure out which direction to go in, haha! Marketing is just something that comes naturally to me. I love all aspects of it and I really enjoy that side of business. I am actually in talks of working with a company on their marketing team once we move to a bigger city so fingers crossed on that one.
Q: Do you plan on having more children?
A: I’m not going to say no. Right now, I am content with my three little loves and life is pretty crazy but maybe when Scarlet Reese is 2 or three we might be ready to add another. I know that she isn’t my last baby but I know I am happy with the kids that I have for now, ha. One day we hope to go through the foster care process and become foster parents… maybe when our children are in high school or college. Adoption has been in numerous conversations as well but isn’t something that we are pushing to do right now. One day, I feel like all of those little dots will be connected at the right time for everything to happen!
Q: What do you want for Christmas?
A: normally at Christmas we choose to focus on the kids verses ourselves but this year I am hoping that Santa brings me a few things. I think that I’ve been a good girl and mama wants some spoiling! I really want a Roomba type vaccum (I’ve been looking at the iLife which is similar) because I legit, clean our floors daily and I am just over that situation. My trusty blender has a crack in the side so I want a new one. It has served me well over the past two years but I def think as much as I use a blender that I need a nicer one. I’ve been looking at the Ninja and I realllyyyy want it. The last thing that I’ve really had my eye on are new chairs for my kitchen table. I really need something easy to wipe down because the wooden chairs that we have are just permanently caked with food from the kids. I clean them every day but for the love of oatmeal it will never come all of the way off. I’ve been looking at different sites for cafe metal chairs but if you have a place that you’ve ordered yours from please send it my way.
Q: Did you have any issues with post partum hair loss? Do you have anything that you suggest doing to help with it?
A: YES! I have had this issue with each child… I’m still growing out my bald spot from Harper! This go around I am taking lots of supplements like Vital Protein collagen peptides, prenatal vitamins, Super B complex from Garden of Life and using Young Living cedarwood oil in my shampoo bottle. After that it’s just hoping for the best!
Q: Am I on any kind of routine with Scarlet Reese?
A: I’ve never been a routine kinda mom. That’s just not something that works organically in my lifestyle. For the most part we all wake up around 7 and get Nolan ready for school then she normally takes a mid morning nap, a nap after lunch, an afternoon nap then she sleeps all night long. Yasssss you heard that right! I feel so blessed with that part. I nurse her randomly in the night but I never check my phone and see what time it is. I just feel her start moving around so I nurse her and she falls back asleep. I always try and feed her and change her before I put her in the car seat and we go out and about somewhere.. most of the time she will fall asleep in her car seat. That’s it!
Q: what’s your go-to family meal?
A: we specifically chose to do baby-led weaning with each of our kids and because of that they are not picky eaters (I highly suggest researching this because it’s worth it!). Pretty much every week I make quinoa and chicken which is a healthier chicken and rice (chicken bog type recipe) sometimes I will cut up chicken sausage and add to it as well. It’s super easy and the kids LOVE it. Other easy meals that I tend to cook are: tacos (because, duh! So easy! We make a big spread on the table and just let everyone have at it) and breakfast for dinner – scrambled eggs, toast, turkey bacon.
Q: what’s your dream vacation?
A: somewhere on an island on a sunny beach with clear waters! Seriously! I want to go on a family vacation somewhere like Boca Boca and stay in one of those houses on the water. Ugh, so gorg. I am such a water baby and love everything beachy and tropical. On a side note, we are planning a vacation in January or March to Washington, DC… I just can’t decide when we should go weather wise (if you have any suggestions please share!) but I’ve been a few times when I was younger and I want to experience it with my children and hubby. The monuments are truly spectacular and I want to go to the Smithsonian musium again as well!
Okay y’all, I’ll have to share more at a later date. The kiddos need me and I can’t stall any longer. Love y’all so much and I am so thankful for all of the love that you continue to send my way.
