Yesterday we had the opportunity to get out of the house for a little while and head to the beach. We usually all travel as a unit, so we loaded up the kids and went to Myrtle Beach. The weather in South Carolina has been really crazy due to the hurricane that is traveling up the coast. It was in the upper 80s with the humidity so high that you could see moisture in the air! I LOVE seeing all of the pictures everyone posts on Instagram wearing their blanket scarves and flannel, but it’s just not cold enough for that here yet. Well, I take that back…we have random cooler days, but the hot outnumber them by far! Nolan was especially excited to go to the beach because he knew we were headed out to eat lunch and go look at a big boy car seat.
For lunch, we went to one of our favorite restaurants to eat down there, Wok On the Beach. It was so nice to eat out and not have to cook for once! I cook breakfast, lunch and dinner and constantly make snacks for everyone, so having a break is much appreciated. Our kids are obsessed with edamame, so we made sure to get that. I am a creature of habit so I had chicken lettuce wraps, they are divine there! We love treating ourselves to a good dinner out every now and then. We try and make sure we always order an appetizer or get bread for the kids so they stay content, color with the coloring pages the restaurant gives, and we ask for the check when we get our meal and pay so when we are all finished we can get up and leave.
For the past few months, I have been researching new car seats for the kids. After a few years, I think Nolan especially is due for an upgrade. He currently has a Graco black and green car seat that has served him well over the years, and I am thinking about moving him into a Britax. Harper’s car seat was a hand-me-down, so I would really love to get her a new one just because it would be just for her! There is a fabulous children’s store at the beach, The Kangaroo Pouch, that has all of my favorite things including car seats so we stopped in to their new location. Chris, the owner, has outdone herself by setting up multiple options of Ergo baby carriers, chew beads, teething necklaces, high chairs, eco-toys, clothing, car seat, strollers and more. Harper ran over to this Nuna stroller and begged me to put her in it. I think she is hinting to me she wants a new one! After the kids played with several toys there, I know exactly where to go for their Christmas gifts!
