Cutting Board – Little Blue Canoe
I started oil pulling when I stumbled across an article this past winter on Pinterest about how good it is for your mouth. I am really interested in keeping my teeth and gums in the best shape possible because once they are gone, they’re gone! Oil pulling for 15-20 minutes with coconut oil is good habit to add to your daily routine because it reduces bacteria, plaque, can reverse cavities, remineralizes your teeth, keeps gums pink and healthy and strong. I give my teeth a little extra boost by using essential oils. You can read more about my obsession with Young Living oils here.
I keep a jar filled with coconut oil tablets in our fridge so I can grab them and they already have been mixed with essential oils. I add orange oil for whitening and thieves oil to help kill bacteria and germs. I really enjoy this combo because it smells delicious and leaves my mouth feeling extra clean. I always oil pull first thing in the morning before I brush my teeth. I grab 3 tablets and move them around until they start to melt. I swish the coconut oil around in my mouth (like mouthwash) for 15-20 minutes. I normally do this while I’m checking emails. When I’m finished, I spit it out into the trash (not the sink) and never swallow because it’s filled with bacteria and toxins from my mouth.
I love making these in tablet form because it’s easier than measuring out the coconut oil and essential oils every morning, and Nolan will actually swish with me if it melts in his mouth. He thinks it’s really cool! This helps us keep up the habit because it’s so easy to grab them. I measured out three tablespoons coconut oil for one drop of essential oil, and I just make as many as I need every week.
I hope that you start oil pulling and see how healthy your mouth becomes!
