Recently, I had the pleasure of spending some of my time with a beautiful Southern belle. Nicole Moore has become more than just a pretty face by debuting her fashion line and taking the world by storm. Check out her collection by heading here. This native South Carolinan launched her line, inspired by classic beauty and the charm of the Old South, in 2014. Each piece from the Nicole Moore Collection is made with such attention to detail that every inch is checked by Nicole herself before it ships. She has had her hand in the fashion business for many years, as she previously owned a brick and mortar boutique named Gypsy which has an online location here. Nicole has been presented with the “New Frontiers Award,” as well as “Most Stylish” for Grand Strand Magazine. She styled a beautiful dress from her boutique for her guest feature on my blog. I really like how she shows off the different ways this dress can be styled!
Below are 20 questions to help get to know Nicole better!
1. How long have you been designing your own clothing?
I’ve been sketching and designing clothing since I was around ten. I’m not sure when I began to have an interest in the area, but I do distinctly remember my aunt forcing me to watch “Style, with Elsa Klensch” on Saturday mornings; when all I wanted to watch was cartoons.
2. What inspires you to create new pieces?
Fashion is a giant circle that is always spinning…what was old will eventually become new again. So, I personal draw my inspiration from the past. I’m especially keen to 50’s and 60’s fashions.

5. What’s different about your line than others?
It’s soft, feminine, and versatile. Most of our dresses have interchangeable features. A bow that snaps off here, a skirt that could be add there, etc. Two women could have the same two dresses and the finished look could be totally different.
6. Where would you like see your line being sold?
I really have my roots set in boutiques. I like everything about what a “TRUE” boutique has offer. Unique items, one on one customer service: where the professional are experienced in dressing/styling clients, as well as knowing how to demonstrate all the features a product has to offer. I feel like the boutiques that have popped up over night lack one or both of these traits. They are just selling articles of clothing nothing more.
7. What’s your favorite piece of clothing that you’ve designed?
I truly am obsessed with the Herrington Romper and detachable skirt. It makes me feel like a powerful women. As if I popped out of the 50’s…Where I could do everything thing on my to-do list done and all the while not get a single hair out of place.
8. Do you think that people should follow the no white after labor day rule?
I do, but should everyone…ahhh, honestly these days people dress so tacky that if I cross paths someone who is dress nicely in white and it happens to be after labor day, I do not judge too harshly.
9. What’s trend you wish would dissappear?
Right now, Chevron. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the pattern. It’s just that fashion has a cycle and each trend should come and go. Then we might actually have a chance to get excited about it’s inevitable return.
10. What’s your favorite place in the south to retreat?
Either one of my parent’s homes…My mother live in a small town with a pool, I literally can go visit and never get further than her back yard. My father has a 60 acre hay and horse farm. It is the most peaceful place I know. You can’t even hear cars from the highway. I love just sitting in the field listening and watching the wind blowing through the hay.
11. How do you decide what jewelry to wear with your clothes?
I love a contrast…I try to pick a piece that will make my clothing pop. For example, if I’m wearing purple; I might wear yellow or green accessories.
12. What is your go-to look?
I have fashion schizophrenia, and I dress based on my mood. I might feel preppy one minute, and bohemian the next. So, I don’t have a “go-to” look because my look is ever changing. I do however, have a few fashion favorites. My Lucchese Cowboy Boots(I hate when people call them “cowgirl” boots), my denim shirts, my vast collection of large earrings, and recently I’ve been fixated on my small collection of “Sweet Tea Jewels.” (I have seven different colored bangles and I find myself wearing at least one everyday.), and finally, no matter what look I decide on; my nails are always freshly manicured.)
13. Who are your fashion icons?
