Be Counter in Washington, DC.. part one!

Well… if this hasn’t been the craziest two weeks of my life!!!! I am down right dragging BUT decided to steal a little time away and get this blog series started. It feels really good to just sit in a room and write. I feel like I haven’t been doing anything but packing for two weeks. This month has been jam packed and it all started at the beginning.

I worked really hard, along with two other Beautycounter consultants from each state, for the past two months to win a trip to Washington, D.C. This wasn’t just any ole trip y’all… this was the chance to celebrate with Beautycounter as they turned five and advocate for our beauty laws to be updated! It’s crazy to believe BC is still a baby company but has accomplished so much in a short period of time. This trip was a huge sign of that and also a chance to see the real truth behind what we are doing as a company. Not only did we get wined and dined but we were able to lend our voices on Capital Hill to people on both sides of the isle and let them know about safer beauty! How. Freaking. Cool.

We were given rooms at the Fairmont in Washington, D.C. Georgetown during our trip and my word it was such a nice place to stay! I love that my roommate was another Beautycounter consultant from Iowa! We bonded quickly and it makes me excited to see her again in May when we attend Leadership Summit. There was only a few short hours of down time after I arrived at the hotel before it was time to head to the welcome reception so I took that time to meet with a friend for a late lunch and then get ready for the party.

One of the reasons that this trip was so special to me, is because it was very intimate. When I went to the Biltmore in September on the Beautycounter incentive trip, there was 200 consultants and HQ and it wasn’t nearly as small as this group. This time, we were all together for the majority of the trip verses when in CA there was a lot of down time to hang out with smaller groups. At the reception, I was able to catch up with a lot of ladies I already know and love and met quite a few more that I ended up becoming good friends with. It’s really interesting to go to events and all the women are so friendly and chatty. I wouldn’t even know what to compare it to because normally, women are rather catty.

So, the event we had the first night was like a little cocktail party with light apps and lots of drinks. They even had mock-tails for the preggos which was nice! There was also light apps served and they were delicious! In addition to the good food and drinks, I was able to chat with the CEO and founder of Beautycounter, Gregg Renfrew and Lindsay Dhal (who was over the entire trip). It’s so crazy being with them up close and having in depth conversations when you never thought you would. Who can say that get to actually hang out with the head of the company from the direct sales company they work for?

Afterwards, my roommate and friend, Anna went back to our room and decided to order room service verses going out to dinner at 9pm.When we walked in, we noticed the cutest care package from Beautycounter. It included the Parker Thatch bag that I styled on a previous blog, and a few other goodies! That’s another perk to these trips, you are given presents the entire time. I took a shower while we waited on our food and when it arrived,  we pulled the dining cart in between our beds and had a little business brainstorming session. It was SO chill and fun. Then, I was able to get a full nights rest in my own bed with no children around. I took all my pillows and made a big “U” around my body and slept like I haven’t slept in years! That was one of my favorite parts of the trip to be honest.

I’ll dig deeper into my trip soon so stay tuned because it gets better by the day! Beautycounter absolutely spoiled us and I am just so blown away by every experience that I am able to have with this company.
