I hope y’all are just as excited as I am that it’s finally FRIDAY! Since my morning routine blog, I’ve had a lot of questions about the makeup I use. Many readers have downloaded the awesome Skin Deep app and have learned that the products they are using have extremely toxic ingredients. If you are one of those readers, I was once you! I was faced with the reality that I was putting harsh chemicals on my skin and realized that my health is more important. I started working to detox my life and what better place to begin than with products I apply daily? I changed my entire makeup bag out to natural products and I could not be more satisfied!
Satisfaction however, did not come instantly. The organic product world is tricky and can lead you to some sticky, gooey, good for you but ineffective products. Once, I spent $38 dollars on a product only to find it did not meet my needs AT ALL. After testing different products, I have found a great combination that works for me, and I want to share that with you today.
The most important part of my makeup application is what I put on my skin as the first layer. I think of this as priming my canvas. I use my Beauty Counter Lustro oil #1 to prime my skin and battle dry “angry” patches from the winter weather.
After my canvas is primed, I squeeze a pea-size amount of Beauty Counter’s Skin Tint in Honey onto a damp Beauty Blender and apply to my face. The Beauty Blender gives me an airbrushed look while the Skin Tint gives me perfect, not too heavy coverage. I love my Beauty Blender so much; there are numerous ways I use it and it helps me use less of my products while still achieving the same finished look. My products last longer because of this one simple tool!
My favorite part of my makeup routine is sculpting my eyebrows. In the past, I was an avid overplucker. I have changed my “brow management” to achieve a thicker look and have only waxed to remove stray hairs for the past seven months. I use Benefit’s “gimme that brow” brow-volumizing fiber gel In light/medium to control strays and define my brows by making the hair I have look more full.
For my eyes, I really like Younique products. Every day is different for me: sometimes I do my shadow, liner and mascara, sometimes its the later two, and sometimes it’s just mascara. Younique’s mineral pigment eye shadows are great because you can use them dry or wet for a more dramatic look. They last forever, because a little bit goes a long way. I also use my darkest shade wet with a brush as eyeliner. My go to colors are confident, sexy and daring. The last step of my eye makeup is my favorite, their mascara! Younique’s fiber lash mascara is the best product I have ever used. I am so addicted that I cannot use any other mascara. I feel like I don’t look right unless my eyelashes are sky high and really full, and the fiber lash does both perfectly. The secret is two steps: a mascara-like transplanting gel and natural fibers that attach with the simple sweep of a mascara wand.
I wait until I’ve finished my eye makeup to put on concealer. Working late making jewelry, having two small children and all the makeup that has fallen from my eyes make my dark circles a force to be reckoned with. Hands down, the best natural concealer I’ve found is the Erase Paste from Benefit. It lasts forever and blends easily with a Beauty Blender.
After I have concealed, it is time to give my face some color. The mineral-based pigmented blusher in Stunning from Younique is my favorite right now! I barely tip my blush brush in the pigment and apply to the apples of my cheeks. I’ve had my blush since last year and it looks like I haven’t used any of it.
The next step in my makeup routine is to contour with bronzer. Beauty Counter Color Contour Matte Bronzer is the perfect pressed bronzer. This helps me not use to much and look like a Wonka Oompa-loompa. With a brush, I hit the spots I want to make smaller… under jawline, under cheek bones, sides of nose and around my hairline. This finishes the coloring of my face.
Now, for the last step of my makeup routine, lips. I love a pop of color on lips; it’s like a statement piece of jewelry for your face! If I have dramatic eye makeup, I wear a lighter color but most days I play around with lip color combos. My go to lip combo right now is Beauty Counter’s Lipsheer in Plum and Younique Lucrative Lipgloss over that. Neither of these products are sticky and they are both long lasting. I enjoy them worn together or separately.
Now that you see that there are great natural makeup products to use, try them for yourself! These products are worth the money for your safety and last a long time so you don’t have to buy more often. This is a combination that saves your health and your wallet!
